Kia Sonet Diesel Variants Now Available with iMT Gearbox, Prices Increased

Kia India has made changes to the Sonet model by replacing the existing six-speed manual transmission with an iMT unit in all diesel variants. Additionally, the prices for all variants have been increased by up to Rs. 50,000.

The Kia Sonet has three engine options available - a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The diesel engine previously had a six-speed manual gearbox, which has now been replaced by a six-speed iMT gearbox. However, the six-speed torque converter automatic transmission remains unchanged.

The 1.2-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engines remain unchanged and continue to be paired with a five-speed manual, iMT, and seven-speed DCT gearbox respectively. Kia has not updated its website yet, but it is anticipated that all these powertrains have been updated to comply with BS6 Phase 2 and E20 fuel regulations.

The Sonet's prices have been updated with a uniform increase of Rs. 50,000 across all diesel variants. Therefore, the price range of the Kia Sonet Diesel now starts from Rs. 9.95 lakh and goes up to Rs. 14.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

The HTE, HTK, and HTK+ variants of the 1.2-litre petrol trim have become pricier by up to Rs. 25,000, while the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol versions have increased in price by Rs. 25,000. However, the price hike for the HTX DCT variant has been limited to Rs. 19,000.
