Learn about Mahindra's strong sales performance in the mid-size SUV segment and the impressive power and performance of the XUV700.

Mahindra's popular SUV, the XUV700, has been in high demand since its launch in 2021, leading to extended waiting periods for eager buyers. However, the company has recently made a significant stride in reducing the waiting time for this sought-after model. In June 2023, customers can expect a reduction of 2-4 months in the waiting period, depending on the chosen variant.
Previously, the waiting period for the XUV700 stretched from 6 to 13 months for both petrol and diesel variants. Thanks to Mahindra's efforts to ramp up production, customers can now anticipate a shorter wait time, bringing relief to those eagerly anticipating their XUV700. The company aims to further alleviate the waiting period by increasing production from the current 60,000 units to 10,000 units per year starting in 2024. Notably, there is no distinction in waiting periods between petrol and diesel variants.
To address the waiting period for each variant, Mahindra has made adjustments for specific trims. The lower trims, MX and AX3, previously carrying a 6-month waiting period, have seen a reduction of 2 months as of June 2023, resulting in a 4-month waiting period for these petrol and diesel variants.
Similarly, the waiting period for the AX5 trim has been reduced by 2 months, now requiring a 6-month wait instead of 8 months. Additionally, customers who opt for the AX7 trim can expect delivery in 8 months, down from the earlier waiting period of 11 months. For buyers of the top-of-the-line AX7L variant, the waiting period has been significantly shortened to just 9 months, compared to the previous 13-month waiting period.
In May 2023, the Mahindra Scorpio/N and XUV700 emerged as the leading contenders in the mid-size SUV segment, surpassing rivals such as Innova Hycross, Hector, and Alcazar. The company's focus remains on meeting the high demand for these two best-selling models, as it continues to address semiconductor supply constraints. Consequently, no new launches are planned for 2023, with production ramp-up and fulfilment of backorders taking precedence.
The XUV700 boasts a 2-litre turbo petrol engine delivering 200 hp power and 380 Nm torque. Additionally, it is equipped with a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine, available in two power outputs: 155 hp with 360 Nm torque and 185 hp with 420 Nm torque. With the automatic transmission, the torque figure reaches up to 450 Nm. Both engines are paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox, and all-wheel drive (AWD) is available as an option, limited to the top-spec AT AX7 and AX7L variants.
As Mahindra strives to cater to customer demand and reduce waiting times, the improved availability of the XUV700 is set to provide an enhanced ownership experience for SUV enthusiasts across the country.
