Maruti leads export race, ahead of Hyundai & Kia

Maruti Suzuki India is a leader in passenger car (PV) export competition in fiscal 2024, with shipments exceeding the combined shipments of Hyundai Motor India and Kia India in the first quarter.

Maruti exported 62,857 units in the second quarter, while Hyundai and Kia exported 35,100 and 22,511 units, respectively. According to the Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association (SIAM), the South Korean company has exported 57,611 vehicles.

Maruti currently exports 17 models, including the Swift, Baleno, Dzire, Brezza and Grand Vitara, to nearly 100 countries in Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Maruti remained India's largest exporter of passenger cars, with exports of 235,670 and 255,439 units in FY22 and FY23, respectively. Maruti achieved good export results thanks to the addition of many models and the support of parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation, which allowed Maruti to enter the international distribution network.

Volkswagen India was the fourth-largest PV exporter in Q1 FY24 with 7,433 exports, followed by Nissan India with 5,928 exports. Other automakers shipped a total of 18,327 units.

India's PV exports total 152,156 in the April-June period.
