The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is anticipated to go on sale during this holiday season and will compete in our market's fiercely competitive compact SUV segment.
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara was unveiled in India yesterday. As we already know, it is a sibling of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and will be built at the Bidadi plant in Karnataka as the Hyryder. Both SUVs are anticipated to go on the road during the holiday season and will compete in our market's fiercely competitive compact SUV segment. And once the new Japanese SUVs are available for purchase, we'll unquestionably offer you a comprehensive comparison evaluation of these small SUVs. In order to give you a sense of how different these models seem in terms of figures and in contrast to the competitors, we currently compare the specifications of these compact SUVs to those of their rivals.Since the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is a petrol-only model, we have only compared the petrol versions of all of these SUVs.
| Models | Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara | Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder | Hyundai Creta | Kia Seltos | Volkswagen Taiguin | Skoda Kushaq | MG Astor ||-----------|----------------------------|------------------------------|---------------|------------|--------------------|--------------|----------|| Length | 4345 mm | 4365 mm | 4300 mm | 4315 mm | 4221 mm | 4225 mm | 4323 mm || Width | 1795 mm | 1795 mm | 1790 mm | 1800 mm | 1760 mm | 1760 mm | 1809 mm || Height | 1645 mm | 1635 mm | 1635 mm | 1645 mm | 1612 mm | 1612 mm | 1650 mm || Wheelbase | 2600 mm | 2600 mm | 2610 mm | 2610 mm | 2651 mm | 2651 mm | 2585 mm |
The longest SUVs are the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, followed by the MG Astor and the Creat and Seltos from Korea. The two shortest compact SUVs in terms of length are the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq. In this comparison, the Taigun and Skoda both have the longest wheelbases (2600 mm), followed by the Koreans Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos and the Japanese newcomers Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. In this comparison, the MG Astor's wheelbase is the smallest.
The MG Astor, however, is the car that is the tallest and widest in this group, followed by the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Kia Seltos. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Hyundai Creta are placed third and fourth, respectively. In this comparison, the Skoda and the Volkswagen are once more the shortest and narrowest vehicles.
| Models | Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara | Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder | Hyundai Creta | Kia Seltos | Volkswagen Taiguin | Skoda Kushaq | MG Astor ||--------------|----------------------------|------------------------------|---------------------|---------------------|---------------------|---------------------|---------------------|| Displacement | 1490 cc | 1490 cc | 1353 cc | 1353 cc | 1498 cc | 1498 cc | 1349 cc || Power Output | 114 bhp at 5500 rpm | 114 bhp at 5500 rpm | 138 bhp at 6000 rpm | 138 bhp at 6000 rpm | 148 bhp at 6000 rpm | 148 bhp at 6000 rpm | 138 bhp at 6000 rpm || Peak Torque | 122 Nm at 4400 - 4800 rpm | 114 Nm at 4400 - 4800 rpm | 242 Nm at 3200 rpm | 242 Nm at 3200 rpm | 250 Nm at 3500 rpm | 250 nm at 3500 rpm | 220 Nm at 3600 rpm || Transmission | e-CVT | e-CVT | 7 DCT | 6 MT / 7 DCT | 6 MT / 7 DSG | 6 MT / 7 DSG | 6 AT |
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser's 1.5-liter intelligent electric hybrid motor (Strong hybrid) is the least powerful of all the engines in this comparison in terms of performance. The most potent turbo-petrol engines are found in the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq, followed by Korean models Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. While the Kia and Hyundai, as well as the Skoda and VW siblings, offer their turbo petrol engines with dual-clutch automatic transmission, the MG Astor Turbo Petrol also produces more power than the Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser, but is only available with a torque converter automatic transmission. However, the 1.5-liter strong hybrid powertrain in the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser is claimed to have the best fuel economy in its class, achieving a claimed 27.97 km/l. Maruti Suzuki also states that the Grand Vitara will be the most fuel-efficient SUV available for sale in India.
| Models | Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara | Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder | Hyundai Creta | Kia Seltos | Volkswagen Taiguin | Skoda Kushaq | MG Astor ||--------------|----------------------------|------------------------------|---------------------|---------------------|---------------------|---------------------|---------------------|| Displacement | 1462 cc | 1462 cc | 1497 cc | 1497 cc | 999 cc | 999 cc | 1498 cc || Power Output | 101 bhp at 6000 rpm | 101 bhp at 6000 rpm | 113 bhp at 6300 rpm | 113 bhp at 6300 rpm | 113 bhp at 5500 rpm | 113 bhp at 5500 rpm | 108 bhp at 6000 rpm || Peak Torque | 136.8 Nm at 4400 rpm | 135 Nm at 4400 rpm | 144 Nm at 4500 rpm | 144 Nm at 4500 rpm | 178 Nm at 4500 rpm | 178 Nm at 4500 rpm | 144 Nm at 4400 rpm || Transmission | 6MT / 6 AT | 6MT / 6 AT | 6 MT / CVT | 6 MT /CVT | 6 MT / 6 AT | 6 MT / 6 AT | 5 MT / CVT |
The most basic engine of the bunch is the 1.5-liter K-series mild-hybrid found in the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The most potent of the bunch is the smaller 1.0-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine found in the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq, which is followed by the 1.5-liter, four-cylinder normally aspirated gasoline engine found in the Korean-made Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Once more, the MG Astor produces more power than the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
