TVS Scooter sales soar in Q1 2026 as Honda still leads the market with a few share drops
The Q1 2026 scooter sales report reveals Honda holding the top spot, while TVS surges ahead with notable growth. Other major brands like Suzuki, Hero, Bajaj, and Yamaha face fierce competition.

Honda Tops The Chart
Honda Motors has deliberately maintained itself in the top spot, selling an impressive 642,106 scooters in Q1 2026. However, the brand has also seen a share drop by 19%. That's 794,835 units less sold than in the previous year, FY 2025. The brand’s signature blend of rock-solid reliability and everyday practicality. With these two factors, Honda remains the top contender for the Indian customers, especially with Activa riders.
However, the data demonstrates that even industry titans are susceptible to the downflow of competition and consumer preferences.
TVS Sales Boost by 23%
TVS has shown some good results in FY 2026. The brand has sold about 476,196 units in Q1 2026, up from 386,633 in Q1 2025. The Indian brand is closing the slate with the Japanese automaker, Honda. This boost in sales is due to the launch of new models for new generations of riders. TVS bikes boast a rich array of features, racing decals, and a sporty design that attracts the new generation of riders.
With sharp model refreshes, keen pricing, and a strong focus on youthful design, TVS now stands as the challenger to Honda.
Brands | Q1 FY 2026 Sales | Q1 FY 2025 Sales | Sales Change |
Honda | 642,108 | 794,835 | -19.2% |
TVS | 476,196 | 386,633 | +23.2% |
Suzuki | 272,628 | 316,311 | -13.8% |
Hero | 89,280 | 85,389 | +4.6% |
Bajaj | 63,620 | 48,854 | +30.2% |
Yamaha | 63,520 | 75,607 | -16% |
Suzuki Remains Stagnant
Suzuki two-wheelers have maintained their stagnant growth. The brand has been doing a bit better when compared to Q1 of 2025. They have also increased their market share from 15% to 16% in 2026. Today, the brand has, on a scale, sold over 272,682 units all over the Indian landscape. This boost in sales is mostly accompanied by the sales of its iconic Suzuki Access.
The Suzuki Access is one of the best-selling scooters after the Honda Activa in the 125-segment category. Suzuki’s balanced lineup continues to win favour with enthusiasts who crave style with substance.
Hero and Bajaj retain the same spot, while Yamaha struggles
Indian two-wheeler automotive giants, Hero and Bajaj, have been featured in the same spot when compared with the previous FY 2025. Hero is doing well in the 100 cc segment of bikes. But when it comes to playing with 150+ cc bikes, they just jeopardise the segment.
Hero ticked upward to nearly 89,280 units, facing both old and new market hurdles. Bajaj, meanwhile, managed to boost sales from 48,854 to approximately 63,620 units, displaying steady momentum but lacking the fireworks of TVS’s leap.
Yamaha is slightly below the table as a performer. The brand is slightly downward, dropping from 75,607 to about 63,520 units. Due to the price rise, the rise in the price of the bike can be a conflict in the downward trajectory of Yamaha.
Conclusion
The Q1 2026 scooter sales reveal a dynamic market: Honda leads with strong brand loyalty despite a 19% sales drop, while TVS impressively grows by 23%, challenging the status quo. Other brands must innovate rapidly to keep pace with shifting consumer demands.
