The X440 is powered by a 440cc single-cylinder, air-oil cooled engine that produces 27 bhp of power and 38 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and features a signature Harley-Davidson exhaust note. The bike also comes with a 3.5-inch TFT display that offers Bluetooth connectivity, call answer/reject, music control and turn-by-turn navigation. The bike also has a connected package with TCU functionality that enables remote access, theft alert, geo-fencing and more.
The X440 has a classic roadster design with a round headlight, a flat handlebar, a teardrop fuel tank, a single-seat, a side-slung exhaust and machined alloy wheels. The bike also has LED lights all around, including a multi-projector headlamp with signature DRL, LED winkers and LED tail lamp. The bike is available in three colours: Mustard Denim, Metallic and Matte.
The X440 boasts of confident handling with optimized geometry that ensures a commanding view of the road ahead. The bike has upside-down front forks, gas-filled twin rear shocks with seven-step preload adjustment, disc brakes on both wheels and dual-channel ABS. The bike has a kerb weight of 190.5 kg and a fuel capacity of 13.5 litres.
The X440 faces stiff competition from other cruiser bikes in the same segment, such as the Triumph Speed 400, the RE Classic 350, the Honda CB300R and the Yezdi Roadster. Here is how they compare on paper:
| Bike | Engine | Power | Torque | Price ||:--------------------:|:---------------------:|:------:|:------:|:------------------:|| Harley-Davidson X440 | 440cc single-cylinder | 27 bhp | 38 Nm | Rs. 2.29-2.69 lakh || Triumph Speed 400 | 400cc single-cylinder | 30 bhp | 36 Nm | Rs. 2.39-2.59 lakh || RE Classic 350 | 349cc single-cylinder | 20 bhp | 27 Nm | Rs. 1.84-2.15 lakh || Honda CB300R | 286cc single-cylinder | 30 bhp | 27 Nm | Rs. 2.49 lakh || Yezdi Roadster | 334cc single-cylinder | 30 bhp | 32 Nm | Rs. 1.99-2.19 lakh |
As you can see, the X440 has an edge over its rivals in terms of torque and features, but it also comes at a premium price. The Triumph Speed 400 is its closest competitor in terms of performance and style, while the RE Classic 350 is its biggest rival in terms of popularity and heritage. The Honda CB300R is a sporty naked bike that offers a different riding experience, while the Yezdi Roadster is a retro-styled bike that appeals to nostalgia.

The X440 is a bold move by Harley-Davidson to capture the growing market of young and urban riders in India who want a cruiser bike that can do it all. The X440 promises to deliver pure Harley-Davidson heart and soul in a compact and affordable package.
