Honda Elevate Spied Tested in Japan: Can Launch After India?

Honda Elevate, which might feature the upgraded version of Amaze's platform and City's powertrain, is one of the most awaited SUVs to be launched in India. The possible launch of Honda Elevate could be in June 2023. With the launch, it will provide Indian customers with another sub-compact SUV. Further, it will also strengthen Honda's position in this segment.

Earlier, BR-V was the subcompact SUV to be offered by the company. Now, with the launch of Elevate, customers will have another option with an upgraded design and a capable powertrain. The Elevate SUV is anticipated to be introduced in global markets other than India. Recently it was spied on during road testing in Japan.

Honda Elevate Spied in Japan During Road Test

The upcoming compact SUV from Honda, Elevate, was spied tested in Japan. It features a fair rake angel, ensuring enough space inside the cabin. The rear profile looks flattish as it appears in a spy shot captured during a road test in Japan. Suzuki Brezza also has a similar profile to the upcoming Honda Elevate.

Based on sources, the boot space may have enough size of about 400L. The spy shot shows that the company has added conventional headlights with LED DRLs. There is a larger grill with an aggressive bumper to maintain a better road presence. Further, this compact SUV can have 17-inch alloy wheels and roof rails, but they are not functional.

Talking about the rear side, LED tail lights can have a connecting effect. The car also gets a shark fin antenna and a subtle roof spoiler. This upcoming passenger vehicle is expected to be fitted in Honda's premium portfolio and have some chrome work to give a premium look and feel.

Honda Elevate Mechanicals and Features

According to industry insiders, this might be an upgraded version of the Honda Amaze with a powertrain similar to the 5th generation city sedan. Customers can expect to have the likes of City's 1.5-liter 4-cylinder NA petrol or City e: HEV's hybrid powertrain.

The engine configuration can produce 119 bhp of power and 145 Nm of peak torque, coupled with a 6-speed manual or CVT transmission option. If the SUV is launched with a hybrid powertrain, it may have engine power of 97 bhp and peak torque of 127 Nm.

Talking about features, this upcoming SUV may pack a single-pan sunroof, LED headlights, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Additional expected features may include a camera-based Sensing ADAS suite and multi-zone climate control.

Once launched, Honda Elevate will likely compete with Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, and Skoda Kushaq.
