Honda Elevate to Be Sold in Japan as WR-V

Honda has launched the made-in-India Elevate SUV in Japan. However, the Honda Elevate SUV will be sold as a WR-V in the Japanese market. The Japan-spec WR-V features an all-black interior and doesn't have any changes in mechanicals.

How is the Japan-Spec Honda Elevate Different?

The Japan-spec Honda Elevate (WR-V) looks identical to the India-spec Elevate. However, the carmaker has made some changes inside the cabin. There is the all-black interior theme, completely different from the India-spec Elevate dual-tone black and beige layout. The SUV also gets a different infotainment screen to make the model more country-specific. There is the same 1.5-liter NA 4-cylinder petrol engine coupled with a CVT gearbox.

Additionally, the made-in-India WR-V looks almost similar to the Honda HR-V SUV currently sold in Japan. HR-V has a more couple-like stylish design, while WR-V boasts a more upright and practical design for the customers. The WR-V does not offer any petrol-hybrid powertrain option to help Honda position the SUV below its HR-V, which is already powered by a more advanced and fuel-efficient petrol-hybrid powertrain.

While the Japan-spec WR-V is based on City and will be supplied from India, the automaker also has a WR-V on sale in Indonesia, but it's completely different from existing models sold in India or Japan. The Indonesia-spec WR-V has smaller dimensions than the Japan-spec variant. Moreover, the model sits on the Honda Amaze platform and has a distinct interior and exterior design.
