Hyundai will display the recently launched Ioniq 6 electric sedan at the Delhi Motor Show, while the all-electric Ioniq 5 will undoubtedly be one of the show stoppers for the South Korean automaker.
The Hyundai Prophecy concept car that debuted at the last Auto Expo in India has been produced as the Ioniq 6 EV sedan.
Highlights
• Ioniq 6 utilises the E-GMP platform of Ioniq 5
• Competitors are BMW i4, Tesla Model 3
• worldwide deliveries with a reported range of 614 km
The next Auto Expo 2023, which opens on January 11 in New Delhi, will have a significant presence from Hyundai. Along with some concept cars, the automaker will present a myriad of its current and upcoming models. We can confirm that Hyundai will also display the recently launched Ioniq 6 electric sedan at the Delhi Motor Show, while the all-electric Ioniq 5 will undoubtedly be one of the show stoppers for the South Korean automaker.
The Kona EV, which is already for sale in India, and the Ioniq 5 are Hyundai's other two global EV models. Its global debut took place back in June of this year, and the Hyundai Prophecy concept, which had already visited India at the last Auto Expo, served as a preview. The E-GMP skateboard architecture of the brand, which also supports the Kia EV6, is used by the Ioniq 6. This architecture gets scalable battery sizes, rear- or all-wheel drive, a flat floor, and EV-specific proportions.

The Ioniq 6 is essentially a sleek full-electric sedan with numerous sweeping curves and creases as well as an aerodynamic shape. The Ioniq 6 is said to have a drag coefficient of just 0.21 with all its design cues, which is aided by flat door handles and cameras in place of conventional wing mirrors. The Ioniq 6's rear has pixel-style LED taillights, a ducktail rear spoiler, and a curved shoulder line that is conceptually similar. The inside of the Ioniq 6 has a flat centre console, which is also present in the brand's other EV models including the overseas-sold Genesis GV60 SUV. A pair of dual 12-inch touchscreens and a two-spoke steering wheel are housed in the plain dashboard.
The Ioniq 6's dimensions—4,855mm in length, 1,880mm in width, 1,495mm in height, and 2,950mm in wheelbase—are comparable to those of the Tesla Model 3, Polestar 2, and BMW i4 in terms of size.
Two battery configurations are available for the Ioniq 6: the smaller 53kWh battery and the bigger 77kWh battery (also available on the Ioniq 5). Standard will be a single motor RWD setup, with two motor AWD available on pricier models. While the RWD setup produces 228hp and 350Nm, the Ioniq 6 Dual Motor produces 320hp and 605Nm, which is the same as the Ioniq 5.In terms of WLTP approved range, the Ioniq 6 travels 429 km in the RWD 53 kWh version, 614 km in the RWD 77.4 kWh version, and 583 km in the AWD version.
The Ioniq 5 will be the second EV to go on sale in January, with the first-generation Kona EV already being sold in the Indian market. Hyundai hasn't disclosed its launch strategies for the Ioniq 6 in India, and the Auto Expo 2023 exhibition would be a help in determining consumer demand.
