Kia to Unveil Two Concept EVs at Los Angeles Auto Show

Kia has revealed its two new electric vehicle concepts, the EV3, a compact electric SUV, and the EV4, an electric sedan, before the Los Angeles Auto Show, confirmed to be held from November 17, 2023, to November 27, 2023.

The South Korean automaker plans to strengthen its EV lineup in the US market to cater to the growing demand for electric vehicles. However, Kia didn’t specify the details about the range, top speed, and other key specifications.

Despite these flagship launches, the carmaker is also exploring the potential for electric vans in America, stated Steven Center, the COO at Kia America.

Aside from broader industry trends, automakers are strengthening their electric vehicle manufacturing capabilities to meet the increasing demand for EVs and compete with industry leader Tesla. Kia has a long history of introducing concept vehicles before launching final production units in public. For instance, EV9, a concept EV, was unveiled at the LA Auto Show 2021 and got a finalized version after two years.

In October 2023, the automaker announced the pricing details for EV3 and EV4, along with its compact electric SUV EV5, ranging between $35,000 to $50,000. It’s a significant move by Kia to strengthen its EV portfolio by also maintaining price parity between conventional and electric vehicles. With this strategy, the automaker can gain significant market share in the potential EV market.
