The new KTM 990 Duke: A closer look at the spied test bike

KTM is working on several new models for both domestic and global markets. One of them is the likely KTM 990 Duke, which was spotted testing abroad. The bike looks almost ready for production.Front design and styling

The bike has a distinctive front design with two side-mounted reverse-boomerang lights, which could be the LED DRLs. Between them, there could be two vertical projector headlights. The bike also has sharp fuel tank extensions that add to the front-heavy look. The overall styling is very aggressive and matches the other KTM Duke models.

Engine and features

The new 990 Duke is expected to use a new LC8c engine that KTM has been developing. Its type approval documents were leaked in China. This engine could be a successor to the previous generation of the KTM 990 Duke, which was launched in 2005 and discontinued a few years later.

The new model is likely to have all the latest features and electronics, such as LED lights, ride mode traction control, wheelie control, ABS mode, and more. It may also have a TFT screen like the 1290 Super Duke R.

Suspension and brakes

The test bike has WP USD front forks and an offset monoshock. The brakes are twin front and single rear discs on 17-inch alloys with road-biased tyres.

When and where will it be available?

KTM may launch the new 990 Duke only in the international market, as the 790 Duke did not do well in India. It can be expected in 2024.
