British carmaker Lotus has made its debut in the Indian market today by launching an all-electric Eletre SUV with the starting ex-showroom price of Rs 2.55 crore.

British carmaker Lotus has made its debut in the Indian market today by launching an all-electric Eletre SUV with the starting ex-showroom price of Rs 2.55 crore. It's a proud moment for the Indian automotive sector as a globally accredited brand for making the best-handling sports car launched its first product in India.

The British carmaker partnered with Exclusive Motors to distribute and retail all its cars in the country. The Delhi-based distributor also retails the Bentley cars in India. The Lotus will open its first dealership in Delhi by early 2024, while more showrooms will be opened in the following years. Apart from Lotus, several other British automotive companies have already made their presence in the Indian market, including McLaren, Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, and Jaguar Land Rover.

Lotus Eletre SUV

Lotus Eletre is a full-electric SUV from a globally renowned British carmaker. The carmaker has launched its electric SUV in India in three variants: Eletre with a starting price of Rs 2.55 crore, Eletre S with a starting price of Rs 2.75 crore, and Eletre R with a starting price of Rs 2.99 crore, ex-showroom.

Lotus is offering two powertrain options to Indian customers. The base variant Lotus Eletre and mid-spec Eletre S are equipped with a single-speed system with a power output of 603 bhp and 710 Nm of torque. With this motor unit, the electric SUV can sprint 0-100 kmph in 4.5 seconds and deliver the top range of 600 km.

On the other hand, the top-spec variant, Eletre R, is considered the carmaker's "All-Electric Hyper SUV" that gets power from a dual-speed system capable of delivering 905 bhp and 985 Nm of torque. The top-spec variant of Lotus Eletre can accelerate 0-100 kmph in 2.95 seconds with a maximum range of 490 km.

All three variants have a 112kWh battery pack that supports fast charging and can charge 10% to 80% in 20 minutes using a fast charger.

Technical and Safety Features

Lotus Eletre has several features like a digital cockpit, Lotus Hyper OS, two Qualcomm 8155 SoC, a 15.1-inch OLED touchscreen infotainment system, OTA updates, Dolby Atmos & KEF audio, 15-speaker sound system, and Matrix LED headlights. The carmaker also offers torque vectoring, an active front grille, five drive models, 22-inch forged alloy wheels, and 12-way electrically adjustable front seats.

Additionally, Lotus provides six different interior themes as standard, designed using sustainable materials. The electric SUV also has LIDAR and autonomous driving technology for superior driving.
