Maruti Suzuki recalls over 87,000 S-Presso and Eeco models due to a steering defect. The carmaker assures prompt resolution for affected owners.

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car manufacturer, has announced a major recall affecting more than 87,000 units of the S-Presso and Eeco models. The company detected a potential defect in the steering wheel setup, leading to this extensive recall campaign.
According to the carmaker's statement, the faulty part in question is the steering tie rod. In rare cases, it may break, affecting the vehicle's steerability and handling. The affected units were manufactured between July 5, 2021, and February 15, this year.
Maruti Suzuki has assured the affected S-Presso and Eeco owners that they will be promptly intimated about the recall and are urged to contact the nearest dealerships. The carmaker will address the issue free of cost to ensure the safety of the affected vehicles.
This is one of the largest recalls in recent times by Maruti Suzuki. In the past, the company recalled nearly two lakh units of various models, including Ciaz, Vitara Brezza, and XL6 petrol variants, due to a faulty motor generator unit. Additionally, more than 1.34 lakh units of WagonR and Baleno hatchbacks were recalled for possible faulty fuel pumps, while 63,493 units of Ciaz, Ertiga, and XL6 petrol smart hybrid variants faced a recall for a faulty motor generator unit.
The S-Presso, introduced in 2019, has gained popularity among first-time car buyers. Priced between ₹4.25 lakh and ₹5.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the S-Presso comes equipped with a 1.0-litre petrol engine, similar to the Alto K10 models.
The Eeco, launched in 2010, is one of Maruti Suzuki's most successful multi-purpose vans, catering to both commercial and passenger segments. Powered by a 1.2-litre advanced K-Series dual-jet, dual VVT engine, the Eeco is available with a CNG variant as well. It boasts a power output of 80.76 PS for the petrol variant and 71.65 PS for the CNG variant, with fuel efficiencies of 20.20 kmpl and 27.05 km/kg, respectively.
With the recall campaign, Maruti Suzuki reaffirms its commitment to customer safety and satisfaction. The company's proactive approach to addressing potential defects ensures a reliable and trustworthy ownership experience for its customers.
