Maruti Suzuki today unveiled the new Grand Vitara, a sibling of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. This holiday season, the new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will compete in India's fiercely competitive small SUV class against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, and its sibling, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The company claims it will be India's most fuel-efficient SUV and would be available with both a mild hybrid and a robust hybrid powertrain.

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara shares the same silhouette as the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder in terms of appearance, although receiving minor aesthetic tweaks. The front end of the automobile has been customized by Maruti Suzuki India to set it apart from the Hyryder. The split headlamp design would give it an aggressive appearance, and there is a new grille at the front with a single slat and chrome inserts. On higher models, a dual-tone color scheme with a black roof will be available, and the alloy wheels will also have this treatment. Wraparound LED taillights, a two-piece LED light bar, and the Grand Vitara nameplate are all present on the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara's rear end.

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara's interior features a dual-tone design with soft-touch materials on the door pads and dashboard. The recently released Maruti Suzuki Baleno supplied the 9.0-inch smart play studio touchscreen entertainment system, and the car also receives more luxuries like a Head-Up Display (HUD), a 360-degree camera, a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, and drive modes, among others. Along with other features, the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will have a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, and ventilated seats.

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, as previously noted, will include two petrol engine options mated to either a mild-hybrid system or a strong-hybrid alternative. India's most fuel-efficient SUV, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 1.5-litre Intelligent Electric Hybrid version achieves 27.97 kilometers per gallon. The engine produces 91 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 122 Nm of maximum torque between 4400 and 4800 rpm. On the other hand, the 1.5-liter, four-cylinder K-Series mild hybrid engine produces 136.8 Nm of maximum torque at 4400 rpm and claims to have a fuel efficiency of 21.11 km/l while producing 101 horsepower at 6000 rpm.
The six-speed manual transmission will handle transmission chores, while higher variants will also come with a six-speed automatic gearbox as an option. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara's top-tier model will also be available with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.
