On April 11th, 2023, Mercedes-AMG will introduce the GT 63 S E Performance in India. This high-performance sedan marks the first-ever hybrid offering from Mercedes-Benz's renowned performance division based in Affalterbach.

The car features a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that delivers a whopping 639 horsepower along with an electric motor producing 204 horsepower.

Together, they produce a combined output of 843 horsepower and over 1,400Nm of torque. As a result, the GT 63 S E Performance can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in just 2.9 seconds and boasts a top speed of 316 kilometres per hour.

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance's 204 horsepower electric motor is fueled by a 6.1-kilowatt-hour, 400-volt battery that weighs only 89 kilograms, according to Mercedes. The automaker asserts that the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle can cover a distance of 12 kilometres solely on electric power, with the electric motor capable of reaching a maximum speed of 130 kilometres per hour. The car features four levels of regenerative braking, and in certain driving situations, one-pedal-driving capabilities are also available.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance boasts subtle but noticeable modifications to its exterior design when compared to the standard model. These include a redesigned front bumper inspired by the two-door GT, distinctive badging, exclusive exhaust outlets, and a new alloy wheel design. Additionally, a flap is integrated into the rear bumper to house the charging port. However, the GT 4-door coupe models with standard and PHEV powertrains have a similar appearance.

Inside the car, the GT 63 S E Performance features several hybrid-specific displays for the MBUX system, as seen in other Mercedes PHEV models. These displays include an EV range indicator, real-time power consumption data, and an electric motor power gauge.
