MG ZS EV Facelift 2022 Price Rs 21.99 lakh-Launched in India

MG Motors launched the 2022 MG ZS EV price Rs 21.99 lakh lakh in India today. The 2022 ZS EV is the latest gen electric car from the company and it gets a host of updates over its predecessor. According to MG, In the last two years, ZS EV owners have saved approx. 70 lac kg of CO2, equivalent to planting 42000 trees.

The latest iteration has different exterior design as well as new interior and a bigger battery and range. This will mean more CO2 savings and good news for the environment.

MG ZS EV Facelift Design Changes:

The new ZS EV gets a design update which is comprehensive at the front. Gone is the Astor-esque fake grille and is replaced by a body coloured, closed and clean grille-less design. The place of the design now gets indents to add character to the front. The charging port is now moved to the side of the MG logo.

The headlights are brand new with new DRL elements. The Bumper houses the air-dam while there is a small slit just on top of where the front number plate is. The fog-lamp area now has black inserts.

From the side the car remains unchanged except the new alloy wheel design. The rear gets a cleaner design and has the Astor like taillights. There is a huge MG badge in the middle of the boot lid while the rear bumper too is re-designed.

MG ZS EV Facelift 2022 Interior:

The interior of the MG ZS EV electric car remains mostly unchanged but there are subtle changes. It gets an updated, 7-inch LCD digital instrument cluster and a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment.

Other features include a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, electric parking brake, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 3 driving modes, wireless phone charging, rear ac vents and 6-way power adjustable driver seat.

Safety features include 6 airbags, TPMS, ESP, EBD, all wheel disc brakes, blind spot detection and pedestrian warning system. Apart from these features the car also gets Internet connectivity through an in-built sim.

ZS EV facelift 2022 also gets a new feature called the EcoTree Challenge. It will allow the owners to track their CO2 emissions during the drive. There are over 75 other connected car features on the MG i-Smart EV 2.0 connected car system.

Additionally, this system will also offer an advanced VR system, with over 100 commands. There are over 35 commands in Hinglish for added convenience.

2022 MG ZS EV Range and Battery:

The earlier model of the ZS EV had a 44.7 kWh battery pack, which made 143 bhp and 353 Nm of peak torque. The claimed ZS EV range was 419 km and a 0-100 km/h time of 8.5secs.

MG has replaced this battery pack with a 50.3 kWh which makes class-leading 172ps of power. The new e car has a claimed range of 461 km and continues to be a front wheel drive car. The range was expected to be around 500 km but it is still far more than the Nexon EV range on 312 km.

MG ZS EV Price and Rivals:

The MG ZS EV price starts from Rs 21.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 25.88 lakh. It will be offered in two trims, the MG ZS EV Excite price is Rs 21.99 lakh but it will be available from July 2022 while the MG ZS EV Exclusive price is Rs 25.88 lakh and will be available now.

It is still expensive then its nearest rival, the Tata Nexon EV price Rs 13.99 lakh. This MG EV price may not be under Rs 20 lakh, but overall, it is a good product with good looks and a long list of features. Will it be able to dent Nexon EV sales is something to be seen in the future?
