Evolution of New Kia Sonet Facelift from its previous generations

The Kia Sonet is a subcompact crossover SUV that was launched in 2020. It is mainly developed for the Indian market, where it benefits from the tax advantages for cars shorter than 4 metres. Today we are about to witness the fourth generation of Kia Sonet. Let’s look at what it has to offer and how was the journey of Sonet in the Indian Market. 

The Sonet has not undergone any major generation changes since its debut, but it has received some minor updates and variants over the years. Here are some of the notable ones:

2021 Kia Sonet 

Kia introduced a three-row version of the Sonet in Indonesia, called the Sonet 7. It had a roof-mounted air circulator system and a revised second row bench seat with split folding and a one-touch folding mechanism. However, it was discontinued in 2022

2022 Kia Sonet

Kia launched a new sub-model named X-Line in India. It had cosmetic changes such as a matte black grille, silver skid plates, black alloy wheels, and a dual-tone interior. It was available in two engine options: 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel.

2024 Kia Sonet

New Kia Sonet facelift is about to be unveiled in a couple of hours. It will have design revisions such as a new grille, fresh LED headlights with longer fang-shaped LED DRLs, a restyled front bumper, and a different alloy wheel design. 

The Kia Sonet 2024 is the facelifted version of the subcompact crossover SUV that was launched in 2020. It will be available in 8 monotone color and 2 Dual tone color. 

It will have some design revisions, new features, and updated powertrain options. Some of the highlights are:

• A new grille, fresh LED headlights with longer fang-shaped LED DRLs, a restyled front bumper, and a different alloy wheel design.

• A 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 360-degree camera with blind view monitor, and Amazon Alexa support.

• Rear-wheel disc brakes, four-way powered driver’s seat, new traction modes for automatic variants (sand, mud, and wet), and drive modes (normal, eco, and sport).

• Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, and blind spot monitoring.

• Bose Premium Sound System with 7 Speakers

• Smart Pure Air Purifier with Virus and Bacteria 

• Electric Sunroof

The Sonet competes with other subcompact SUVs such as the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
