CNG (compressed natural gas) has significant importance in India because It is widely used as an alternative fuel for transportation and has helped in reducing air pollution and import dependency on fossil fuels.
Tata Motors is getting ready to release the CNG models of the Altroz soon. The company will start delivering them in May, and you can already book them before they announce the price, which is expected to happen soon.
Besides the new engine, the Altroz will also have another feature, a sunroof, which is very popular. After the i20, it will be the second car in its category to have a sunroof.
The sunroof feature will only be available on the highest variant of the Altroz, which they call the XZ+ S. We discovered this because Tata is currently accepting reservations for this model on their website, although only with the CNG engine for now.
Additionally, a part of their advertisement on social media revealed that the car will have a sunroof. It's worth noting that the Altroz CNG that was showcased at Auto Expo 2023 also had a sunroof.
Will the sunroof feature only be offered on the CNG version? No, that's not the case. Tata Motors plans to initially launch the sunroof on the CNG variant, but it will soon be accessible with the petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel engines as well.
Furthermore, the Altroz CNG will also feature the digital driver's display from the Tiago CNG.
The unique selling point of the Altroz CNG is its dual-cylinder technology, where it utilizes two CNG tanks with a 30-liter capacity each instead of a single large 60-liter tank.
This results in a significant increase in boot space, making it a more practical hatchback than its competitors. The car will be equipped with a 1.2-liter engine that generates 73.5 horsepower and 103 Nm of torque, coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The booking for Tata Altroz iCNG starts for Rs 21,000. The CNG version of the Tata Altroz might cost about one hundred thousand rupees more than the petrol model, which has a starting price of Rs 6.45 lakh (excluding showroom charges).
