Vitesco Technologies presents its innovative electric solutions for 2-wheelers in India, including a 48-volt system, an electric axle drive, and engine control units.

Mumbai / Pune, July 06, 2023: Vitesco Technologies is a leading company that makes advanced technologies and solutions for electric vehicles. The company is showing its new electric solutions for different types of 2-wheelers in India. For the first time, the company will also show a demo version of its 48-volt system for electric light motorcycles and scooters.
This system can give the same power as a 150 cc engine. The company also has a special electric axle drive that can be used for three- and four-wheelers. The company has been using this drive in many cars made by European and Asian companies since 2019.
Klaus Hau and Anurag Garg, who are the leaders of Vitesco Technologies India, showed the Demo scooter at their facility in Talegaon, Pune. Klaus Hau said, "I think the future is electric, and we are happy to show our first 48-volt demo vehicle in India”. He also said that India is very important for the company's growth. India’s automotive industry is changing a lot right now.
More people are choosing electric vehicles and our products are made for that. We have a lot of experience, expertise, and products in this field. We have been working on electrification for more than 15 years. We have almost everything that is needed for electric vehicles in our products. We want to grow more and do more business in electrification.
Anurag Garg said: “We are glad to show our 48-volt system for electric light scooters and bikes in India for the first time. We made this concept to see how we can make a new generation of EVs and also set standards for other projects. We have been investing in this segment since 2006 and we have brought many new products to the market. We will keep making our electric solutions better and longer-lasting for 2-wheelers and Powersports in India with the latest technologies.”
## A Small and Powerful Drive Unit with iRPS
The drive unit is a small, powerful permanent magnet e-motor with a special sensor called iRPS. The sensor, which we made ourselves, helps the electric motor to work very well in a fully electric drive. This makes it easy to deal with difficult driving situations. The iRPS is connected to the motor shaft and can be placed in different ways.
The system is very light and small with no magnets or rare earths. It is not affected by low-frequency magnetic fields and can work in very hot or cold temperatures.
## Zero-emission driving: Demo Scooter With a 48-Volt System
The full electric demo scooter was shown for the first time in Milan in November 2022. Its 48-volt system was made for smaller two-wheelers, which are very popular in Asian countries. We are already making the drive system ready for production in some customer projects.
The system is controlled by an eDCU (Electric Drive Control Unit). This unit controls both the electric drive and other vehicle functions. The eDCU was made specially for 2-Wheelers with features like multi-battery management for swappable batteries. It also makes sure that the battery works well with different interfaces.

The electric drive can give up to 150 kW of power and up to 2,900 Nm of torque. It weighs only 76 kilograms and it is very small (40x35x55 cm). The system does not need any plugs or cables to connect the motor and inverter, which makes it stronger. The PDCU used in the hybrid concept could be used as the control unit. It can talk to the EMR3.
We also have a solution for cooling systems in applications with higher power. The electric water pump with a brushless DC motor can change its power (70 to 270 W). It can also be changed with different motors and impeller sizes, as well as different cooling housings.
Emissions rules for engines are getting stricter all over the world, and the rules that were used for cars are now being used for two-wheel vehicles too. To help manufacturers meet these rules, we offer a range of efficient and new engine control units. These M4 control units, for example, can make smaller engines connect to Bluetooth (M4L-BLE), allow electronic throttle control (M4-REK), and have many functions in a small space (M4C, M4D). We will keep changing the engine controls to meet future needs and also make new products.
