Maruti Suzuki Brezza [2022-2026] Insight Review
What We Like?
- The Maruti Brezza has a clean SUV-style design and stance that gives it good road presence.
- The cabin feels airy and premium, offering good visibility while driving and sufficient boot space.
- Comes loaded with creature comforts like connected car tech, a feature-rich infotainment system, and a sunroof.
- Ride quality is impressive in the city and on long drives, thanks to its light steering, smooth shifts, and well-tuned suspension.
- In our long-term testing, it proved to be reliable, efficient, and low-maintenance.
What could have been better?
- At low speeds on rough roads, the Brezza feels bouncy with noticeable vertical movement.
- Some interior materials feel average in touch and finish, not as premium as those in rival SUVs.
- The rear seat feels cramped for three people and is more comfortable for two occupants.
- The engine’s mid-range performance isn’t very exciting.
- The infotainment system occasionally feels laggy.
Brezza Engine and Performance

Petrol 1462cc
Positives:
- The petrol-only version produces 101.6 bhp and 136.8 Nm, and is offered with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox.
- In CNG mode, it produces 86.6 bhp and 121.5 Nm, and is offered only with a five-speed manual gearbox.
- This petrol engine offers strong low-end torque, making it easy to drive at low to medium speeds.
- Out on open roads, the Brezza cruises comfortably at around 100 kmph.
- ARAI-claimed mileage figures are 17.38 kmpl (non-hybrid MT), 19.89 kmpl (hybrid MT), 19.80 kmpl (automatic), and 25.51 km/kg (CNG).
- Hill-hold assist in the manual version helps when juggling the accelerator, brake, and clutch on inclines.
- City commuting, especially in stop-and-go traffic, is quite easy with the five-speed manual.
- The six-speed AT gets paddle shifters and is easy to drive in stop-and-go traffic thanks to its smooth acceleration.
- The light steering self-centres well and gains appropriate weight as speeds increase.
- The suspension absorbs most bumps while providing a relatively flat and stable ride on the highway.
Negatives:
- The Brezza’s suspension feels a bit firm at low speeds.
- At highway speeds, you may need to downshift with the manual gearbox to make quick overtakes.
- The automatic’s mid-range power delivery feels mild, as the engine is tuned more for efficiency.
- The engine’s pulling power is adequate but not particularly engaging or exciting for the driver.
- The higher automatic variants are priced at a premium and feel largely overpriced.
CNG 1462cc
- Runs on CNG, making it highly economical and efficient for daily use.
- Powered by a 1462 cc engine, tuned for smooth and reliable performance.
- Offered only with a Manual transmission, ensuring simple and predictable operation.
- Produces 87 bhp of power, adequate for regular city commuting.
- Generates 121.5 Nm of torque, delivering steady and usable pull in everyday driving.
Brezza Convenience and Technology

Positives:
- The Brezza comes equipped with an electric sunroof.

- It features a heads-up display with turn-by-turn navigation.
- It comes with a 360-degree camera and Suzuki Connect telematics with voice assist.
- The SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
- It features wireless charging and rear AC vents with fast Type-A and Type-C charging ports.
- The visible cabin materials offer acceptable quality and fit-finish, though they aren’t segment-leading.
- The slim dashboard and door-pad design free up plenty of knee and elbow room.
- Excellent frontal visibility, and all major controls remain easily accessible while driving.
Negatives:
- The view through the small rear side windows feels restricted.
Brezza Safety

Positives:
- The Brezza comes equipped with ESP, hill-hold assist, and six airbags, including side and curtain airbags.
- It also offers height-adjustable front seatbelts and a 360-degree camera.
- All variants now come with six airbags.
Negatives:
- This SUV misses out on ADAS features.
- The Brezza has not been tested by NCAP yet, so its official safety rating is still unavailable.
Brezza Interior and Exterior Styling

Positives:
- It comes with razor-cut alloy wheels, a modern dual-tone exterior finish, and a sporty shark-fin antenna.

- The simple exterior design looks clean and appealing, with upright and flat elements that give it a neat profile.
- It comes equipped with dual LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, and sleek LED taillamps.

- The sharp taillights with bold black surrounds add a strong and distinctive character to the rear design.
- It offers a premium dual-tone black and brown interior, highlighted with elegant silver accents.

- The cabin features ambient lighting and a sporty flat-bottom, multifunction steering wheel.
Negatives:
- The lower-section plastic quality in the cabin feels below average and doesn’t match the rest of the interior.
- The small rear side windows are a result of the Brezza’s slightly sloping roof design.
