Maruti Suzuki led the export charts, securing several top positions. The Maruti Fronx was the most exported model, with 7,802 units shipped and a 3.28% growth over last year. The Maruti Jimny saw a significant 63.46% rise, reaching 6,738 units. The Maruti S-Presso recorded the highest growth among major models, up 216% to 6,377 units. Other Maruti models like Swift, Dzire, and Baleno contributed strong numbers, though each saw slight year-on-year declines. Newer models such as the Maruti eVitara and Victoris also began adding to export volumes.
Performance of Key Export Models

The Maruti eVitara, the brand's first electric car, is manufactured in India and exported globally. Among non-Maruti models, the Nissan Magnite ranked fourth with 5,203 units but declined 40% year-on-year. The Hyundai Verna also saw a near 40% drop in exports, indicating reduced demand in some overseas markets. However, the Hyundai Grand i10 posted a 35% increase, with over 5,000 units exported. The Hyundai Aura and Creta showed moderate export numbers, though Aura declined slightly.
The Toyota Hyryder achieved a 23.89% growth, reflecting increased interest in hybrid SUVs abroad. In contrast, the Volkswagen Virtus dropped 48.7%, and the Taigun fell by over 50%. The Honda City grew 14%, but the Elevate experienced a sharp 75.5% decline, one of the largest in the segment. The Mahindra XUV 3XO posted a 33% increase, showing improved export performance for the brand.
Brand-Wise Export Trends
Several entry-level cars saw strong growth. The Maruti Celerio rose 116%, the Alto increased 122%, and the Hyundai i20 grew 106%. Maruti Suzuki exported 45,786 units in March 2026, a 39.67% year-on-year rise. Its broad portfolio and strong presence in emerging markets continue to drive export volumes.
Hyundai, the second-largest exporter, saw a 10% decline. Nissan exports dropped over 31%, mainly due to lower Magnite shipments. Toyota posted a 23.89% increase, while Kia and Mahindra experienced moderate to steep declines. Volkswagen and Honda exports contracted by nearly 50%, reflecting weaker demand for their Indian-made models. Tata Motors recorded the highest growth at 204%, though from a smaller base. Niche brands like Citroen, Jeep, and Skoda saw notable declines, showing uneven export momentum across the industry.
