Royal Enfield sales grow 7% in July 2023, with Hunter 350 as the second best-selling model.

Royal Enfield is one of the leading manufacturer of cruiser motorcycles in India, has now released its sales figures for July 2023. The company sold a total of 67,495 units in the domestic market, registering a 7% growth compared to July 2022, when it sold 62,665 units. The company also exported 8,212 units in July 2023, a whopping 83% increase from July 2022, when it exported 4,487 units.

Classic 350 leads the pack

The best-selling model for Royal Enfield in July 2023 was the Classic 350, which sold 27,003 units, a 6% increase from July 2022, when it sold 25,425 units. The Classic 350 also saw a marginal 2% growth from June 2023, when it sold 26,350 units.

Hunter 350 makes a strong debut

The second best-selling model was the newly launched Hunter 350, which sold 16,162 units in July 2023. The Hunter 350 was introduced in June 2023 and received an overwhelming response from the customers. It sold 18,869 units in its debut month, making it the most successful launch for Royal Enfield in recent times. However, the Hunter 350 saw a significant 14% decline in sales from June 2023 to July 2023, indicating a possible cooling off of the initial hype.

Bullet 350 shows resilience

The third best-selling model was the Bullet 350, which sold 8,019 units in July 2023, a remarkable 36% increase from July 2022, when it sold 5,893 units. The Bullet 350 also saw a slight 4% decrease from June 2023, when it sold 8,314 units.

Other models struggle to keep up

The other models in the Royal Enfield portfolio did not fare as well as the top three. The Meteor 350, which was launched in November 2022, sold 6,864 units in July 2023, a steep 21% drop from July 2022, when it sold 8,645 units. The Meteor 350 also saw a minor 2% decline from June 2023, when it sold 7,024 units.

The Himalayan, the adventure tourer from Royal Enfield, sold 3,255 units in July 2023, a massive 28% decrease from July 2022, when it sold 4,514 units. The Himalayan also saw a sharp 20% fall from June 2023, when it sold 4,064 units.

The Super Meteor, the premium cruiser from Royal Enfield, sold only 460 units in July 2023. The Super Meteor was launched in April 2023 and has not been able to attract many buyers. It sold 838 units in June 2023 and witnessed a huge 45% drop in sales in July 2023.

The only model that showed a positive growth both year-on-year and month-on-month was the 650 Twin, which comprises of the Interceptor and the Continental GT. The 650 Twin sold 1,412 units in July 2023, a marginal 1% increase from July 2022, when it sold 1,425 units. The 650 Twin also saw a significant 46% increase from June 2023, when it sold only 970 units.

Overall performance and outlook

Royal Enfield has been facing stiff competition from other players in the performance motorcycle segment such as Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor Company and Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India. The company has been trying to diversify its product portfolio and expand its global presence to maintain its leadership position. The company has also been investing heavily in research and development to introduce new models and technologies that can cater to the changing preferences and expectations of the customers.
